Synonyms: Great burdock, beggars buttons, lappa, burdane, thorny burr.
Biennial with stout, longitudinally furrowed wooly stems 90cm – 2m tall.
Large ovate or heart shaped leaves up to about 40cm larger at the base than on stems.
Round purpleish pink flower heads 'burrs' appear Juy – September and have hooked tips for dispersal by attaching to animals.
Parts used: Root, herbs, fruits (seeds).
Skin conditions topically and internally as a decoction; eczema, psoriasis, acne, bites, impetigo, herpes.
Regulates immune responses, potential anti allergy.
Not for use during pregnancy or lactation.
